Our Story

Back in 1989 I started out Anitech Dog Training with a small pickup truck, a very large Rottweiller, and an even
bigger dream.  That dream was not to make a million dollars. It was to do something I loved to do.  Work with
animals.  I had been a vet tech for 3 years but really had an affiliation  for dogs even though I didn't own one at
the time.  So after much thought I went to dog training school to learn the basics and struck out on my own.  My
timing was perfect as soon as I started my business the economy took a nosedive and I ended up working at a
Pizza Joint until I was able to get my old job back as a vet tech.  Although I was doing a few private classes a
week I had more and more people asking for group classes because they were cheaper.  After much pleading
and groveling my boss offered the use of the waiting room at the animal hospital I was working for and people
came.  This arrangement worked well and I am thankful for my boss in allowing to have done this.  After a
couple of years it was time to move on again.  I had gotten married child on the way it was do or die.  So I found
a store front and offered training doggy daycare as well as pet supplies.

In the meantime I had picked up job as a service dog trainer which had me going all over New England. I loved
seeing different parts of New England at different times of the year. But between wife, child, business and being
on a volunteer K9 search and rescue team didn't leave time for much else.

Then a strange thing happen.  When my son was just a few months old the building I was located in burnt to the
ground.  Fortunately no one was killed or hurt but now I was out of a building.  Through a friend I was able to rent
out a warehouse to finish up group classes.

During that time my wife had gotten a new job as a teacher and I was Mr. Mom by day and trainer by night.  As
my son grew older and went to school I was able to go back to full time training and offering pet sitting as an
additional service.

About a year a go the service dog organization and I parted ways so now it really up to my business to make or
break the bank.

We've had our ups and down throughout the years and seen other dog trainers come and go but we're still
going strong after 22 years and I still enjoy traveling throughout New England and meeting new friend's. I really
like seeing places I didn't know existed until I drove by them.  I've discovered lot's of hiking trails where you
wouldn't think any existed

So 22 years later, 6 dogs, three cars, and thousands of clients , my favorite author Patrick McManus once said in
his book, How I Got This Way,  that's pretty much how I got this way
How Anitech Dog Training became strictly mobile
